~~The Mare, the Myth... The Queen~~
Wyndi is a twelve year old (2008) Danish Knabstrupper main book mare (KNN), by the German-imported, legendary, Knabstrupper sire Pegasus vom Niehaus-hof; out of the Polish Bask bred matriarch, Pauliana. Her arrival was the groundbreaking moment for her sire in North America, as she was his first offspring birthed in the new world.
Early Life As the first state-side born offspring of Pegasus; Wyndi has spent her entire life in the spotlight. From a mere two days old, she's been doted upon by breeders around the world & spent ample time on tour as a representative of the rapidly advancing North American efforts, to save, educate others & preserve the heritage of the Knabstrupper breed, for future generations. Her dam, Pauli, is one of the last remaining mares of her heritage lineage, in the world. A Polish Arabian, whom has always "thrown to the sire" with her get, she was bred to Pegasus in the spring of 2007. Wyndi was born in the middle of the night on April 6th, 2008; and on the first full evening of her life, she was caught up in a rainstorm & heavy wind, which tore the roof off her sacred enclosure. For several hours, she was being dried off with towels and a dog blanket. It was touch and go that night, in a struggle with mother nature; but she persevered & came through with flying colors. She earned the nickname of "The Spotted Wonder", because she was like nothing we'd ever seen before. She proved to us as an infant, that she was very special. |
Awards
Wyndi is a 1st Premium Elite graded sport-type mare, highly noted for her incredible expression, movement and charisma. Her fierce loyalty and passionate drive is a benchmark characteristic of her selective breeding & the breed as a whole! Wyndi was the top winner of the 2012 KNN USA West Coast Tour, earning the prestigious titles of "Best Mare", "Best in Group" and the coveted "Best In Show" -- accolades given to very few, and coveted within the breed. In 2015, she dominated the performance trial at the KNN USA WC Tour, by winning top honors with an exemplary high score of 832.5; almost unheard of for a Knabstrupper mare at the time. She held onto the title of "top mare" in North America for two years, and second-place mare overall worldwide until the following international grading season. |
